Think in English

A famous dialogue by legendary Amitabh Bachchan Sir, from the movie Namak Haram, goes like this "I can talk English, I can walk English." I will add one more thing to it, say this to yourself "I will think English too." Even if I make mistakes, even if I mix some words from my mother tongue when I am thinking. It doesn't matter. People do learn from their mistakes. If you are conscious while talking to others, talk to yourself(I mean think to yourself not loudly or people might think you are crazy. ) You will neither judge yourself nor make fun of yourself.
When you start gaining confidence, slowly start conversing with others in English. The most important thing is to use simple words and don't shy away from making mistakes. If people are laughing or making fun of you. It's an issue of their thinking and mentality, not you. "Angrez gaye aur angreji ka dehshat chod gaye!"( The Brits left India leaving behind the terror of the English language.) People behave as if it's a heinous crime to speak English incorrectly. You are deemed as unsophisticated if you are not fluent. Don't make it a big deal. English is just another language. That's it. We should take inspiration from the world-renowned actor Jacky Chan or PM of India Narendra Modi. They don't speak this language fluently but that has never stopped them from talking whenever they get an opportunity. So start today. You can do one more thing as practice. Keep a journal/ diary. Jot down some exciting facts which caught your attention that day. Embarrassing, funny, romantic, sad, anything unique. (if nothing special happened, then write "Sigh! what a boring day it was...")

If you write hour-by-hour details you might get bored out of your mind and might never practice writing again. Read out the same to someone whom you can trust. Ask them their opinion and point your mistakes(if any). (If u type on Google docs like me, it might point to some mistakes and even make a few typos on its own. Autocorrect.路臘) This practice will slowly and steadily improve your skills without even realizing it. See, "Rome wasn't built in a day."(check this quote online) we didn't get Independence in one day, kids don't learn to walk in one day. If they fall, they get up and walk again. "Try, try till you succeed."(quote) If you had stopped walking by the fear of embarrassment as a kid you would have never learned to walk. Food for thought.樂 (search this phrase)

Amitabh Bachchan sir also said in the movie "English is a phunny (funny) language". In the next chapter let's discover the funny aspects of the English language. Until then, remember to think in English.

P.S. I barely got passing marks in the English language in the 11th standard. That didn't stop me from writing this blog.  So jump on the English wagon you might enjoy it.

Lockdown Diary 3.0- A normalising phase

Diary 3.0 : A normalising phase Day 41 (4th May 2020) Monday 6:15 AM Although I am following my lockdown routine. The 3.0 phase is going to be different. Government has removed many restrictions.(as it is people were not listening 🤷🙄 they might as well go to work.)  ( Source- Social news.xyz) Now what? This question remains. Maybe the government has left it on us to take our own decisions. The police force is brutally tired. They tried beating up people, pleading them, punishing them(squats, yoga etc) morally shaming people.(Clapping and felicitating people who were out for no reason), making them dance. In this process some of the police force got beaten up, killed, spitted on, bullied and threatened by some politicians and infected with coronavirus for doing their job.  Therefore, the government has changed it's parenting technique. Remove certain restrictions and observe the results. That's the only choice they had. The new parenting technique is borrow...

Chapter 3: Shopping for a Groom

Don't you think matrimonial sites should have the Amazon assured option? "We sell authentic goods only." You know when we shop on Amazon we have various choices, filters for price range, brand, quality etc. Looking for a groom in an Indian marriage is kind of the same deal and what is more convenient than shopping online.(it's a myth that online shopping is easier it takes a lot of time, read reviews, scan through the material bah! It's so boring) Anyways coming back to Indian marriage the filters are Income/salary(of course🙄) gotra or clan as you may call it(should never be the same), kundali/ hososcope from a fortune teller, Cast with a capital C, star match and a long list entails. Our parents who don't trust online products easily are incessantly addicted to the online groom shopping.(I know. I know they are doing the needful as parents)  But you know what, atleast amazon offers reviews, return and exchange policy .😁 What do we do ...

Lockdown Diary 4 : A confusing phase

Diary 4: A confusing phase. Day 55 (18th May 2020) Monday. One might wonder why am I calling it a confused phase. Just have a look at the blueprint of lockdown 4 first. It's been extended till 31st May 2020. It is confused phase because they have opened market places. While people still struggle to understand the meaning of social distancing. 🤷🙄 Any sane person will still avoid visiting crowded places when corona scare still lurks and people who will go out are already going out since day one. (The most untamed animals of the animal kingdom.😤) This feels like opening the liquor shops situation all over again. Let's wait for these changes to show colors. Lockdown 4 is going to be an interesting diary I suspect.  Stay tuned. 10:40 Finally this lockdown has some music in store. The speaker system that was in the upstairs has been bought down to the living room and I began with listening to a legend Kishore Kumar.  (Pic source- Jio saavan) ...
